ICE WINS BACK SATURDAYS WITH MAJOR CHANGES TO THEIR MORNING LINEUP
If you guys remember last week NBC got a huge victory on Saturday thanks to a rare occurrence from the night before when Jethro Grantham made his big surprising return to NITRO and appeared on their morning talk shows boosting up their ratings along with the WFL late in the day to give them an average of 27.24 million viewers over ICE's 21.23 million viewers. Well, this week ICE improved a little bit to 23.30 million viewers to NBC's 15.58 million viewers which was a drop of 12 million viewers on average for them.
ICE made major chances to their Saturday morning lineup this weekend as they added in two new programs after their cancellation of the Saved By the Bell reboot which is going to be burned off on new sister network Punky later this month so they shifted some things around and they have a couple of more programs coming in next month with the new ICE diss show Madison Hates NBC and teen action drama Karate School which are two heavily anticipated new shows going into November Sweeps.
ICE REBOOTS BRACEFACE TO SUCCESS
ICE Phederation Co-CEO Paige Van Buren says one of the things that they were waiting for was for Braceface to be ready since it's animated it takes a little longer to produce episodes and Braceface was supposed to be ready to premiere originally on Saturday September 8th, 2018 but production delays pushed it back a full month. Paige says there was some honest debate on if ICE wanted it to air on the main network or not because they considered making it original for their new streaming service Punky Power. Paige said they might've not been as blessed as they are this morning had Saved By the Bell not bombed on them as Saved By the Bell's failure helped get Braceface on ICE so it's funny how little things like that turnout.
ICE started its changes by bringing back the 2000s animated teen comedy Braceface with all-new episodes as that series gets rebooted. Braceface might be the first real major animated series to ever hit NITRO Television as we've had plenty of animated series over the years but most have flopped or performed with average ratings. Braceface actually started its run with two new episodes on Saturday at 10am with 22.44 million viewers for the first episode and 23.93 million viewers for the second episode so there was some growth for the second episode to easily win its hour. Another huge surprise for Braceface was the huge number it pulled in later in the day when ICE repeated its first episode at 7pm against the WFL as Brace grabbed an impressive 28.19 million viewers which was way more than what it got in its original airing on Saturday morning. That grew 8 million viewers out of ICE's Wide World of Sports and that's great for ICE since Braceface will be airing new episodes at 7pm on Monday evenings. According to Phederation Chairman Marie Avgeropoulos, one of the reasons why ICE bought back Braceface was because it was a flexible animated teen comedy that wasn't just limited to airing on Saturday mornings but it was something that they could air in later hours in the weekday Teen ICE blocks at 7pm over repeats of live action comedies. It should be interesting to see if Braceface can win its timeslot on Monday at 7pm. Marie says the network is currently looking for a partner to air next to it on Saturday mornings but it will be airing 3 new episodes a week for the time being. ICE rookie Kate Li Williams does the voice for the lead character Sharon Spitz better known as Braceface and Young Girls star Paris Berelc does the voice for her best friend Maria Wong.
Teen ICE has been the number #1 under 18 years old block on all of NITRO all season and the further changes that ICE made really helped as half-hour teen dramas G.I. Jane and Tomb Raiders improved to series highs in that new 11am hour for them as G.I. Jane got 25 million viewers and Tomb Raiders got 26 million viewers as both programs did more than enough to comfortably win their hour. Another major change made was the addition of repeats of the Saved By the Bell spin-off Kelly Kapowski and Young Girls which both performed around 30 million viewers which would've been more than enough to perform like hit original episodes.
Then to close the morning block was the premiere of Dance Lessons with married couple tWitch and Allison Holker who are famous world-class dancers. ICE got the idea for the program after ROD's success with the music education show Guitar Lessons which has Santana Shields showing her audience how to use the music instrument. ICE felt like they could capitalize off that success with a dance education show and it fits right in with their Teen ICE audience. This ended up being a great idea because Dance Lessons premiere huge with 35.48 million viewers which is way more than what Guitar Lessons ever got in its run on ROD. Dance Lessons bought the return of Alyson Stoner to daytime television along with Fik-Shun, Dytto Kelly, and Becky G. who all helped out on the program and they were showing their guest Bella Thorne the moves. Bella Thorne's talk show used to occupy the timeslot but ICE paused the series looking to target a different audience.
One thing to look forward to in the future is Fik-Shun who's rising star could make him the next Tahj Mowry, Romeo Miller, or Leo Howard as he's building up his fanbase quite fast. Dytto is also building up her fanbase quite fast after joining that cast of DJ Becky. Allison Holker and tWitch are becoming one of NITRO's most popular couples so the combination of these rising stars could make Dance Lessons a runaway success as time goes on.
ICE could become difficult to catch if Madison Hates NBC and Karate School hits for them next month.
Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains (Paramount Pictures) (ICE-TV) (Channel 7)
On the movie side on Saturday we had about five films air on Saturday between ICE and ROD and obviously the ICE airings of the Paramount Pictures coming of age classics Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains (1982) starring Diane Lane, and the network premiere of The Bad News Bears (1976) starring Tatum O'Neal and former ROD Owner and CEO Jackie Earle Haley. With ICE premiering The Bad News Bears reboot tomorrow night they are rolling out the franchise this month. Both movies did very well for them as The Fabulous Stains grabbed 17 million viewers giving the Teen ICE block a really good lead-in and The Bad News Bears got 27 million viewers out of Dance Lessons.

Over on ROD, they continued to really struggle with the Chucky franchise as Child's Play 3 got their Saturday morning lineup started off really badly and that sunk all of those shows and it led ROD to get beat by NBC. The network premiere of the 1987 classic Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger performed a little better in the afternoon with 13 million viewers that helped the world broadcast premiere of the 2014 horror film Pay Your Rent stay over 10 million viewers. The afternoon portion for ROD was solid compared to the morning. The standouts for ROD in the morning with their animated slate continues to be Barbie's Adventures and High School Drama. Wake Me Up Karlie Kloss is really struggling right now but Nikki Shields' talker and Guitar Lessons were able to pickup the ratings for ROD.
NBC has been showing a strong lately in daytime beating ROD as they did it again on Saturday for 2nd place in daytime. Their Saturday lineup in the mornings is pretty solid right now with the soap recaps but things got pretty dicey for them with the animated repeats which all lost to ROD but luckily the talk shows even with weaker lead-ins still did enough to grow to 13 million viewers for Sarah King's talker at 1pm.
Their repeat lineup of Home Improvement, Brotherly Love, and Blossom in front of the WFL didn't do too badly but that lineup did lose pretty handily to ROD's movie lineup.
The WFL game wasn't as thrilling as it was last week so the ratings were down this week as the Boston Hoods won handily over the Colorado Boulders who dearly miss Paget Hagemeijer who was traded to Detroit last week in that backfield of theirs right now. The Alfonso sisters Talia Scoggins-Alfonso along with Hope & Demi Alfonso dominated Colorado at home in Fenway Park. Boston won the game 27-7 and they moved into 2-1 on the season winning two games in a row after a hard loss to that same Detroit team in their home opener two weeks ago. Talia continues her monstrous season on defense as she had 14 tackles in this game along with an interception returned for a touchdown. That Boston defense looks phenomenal right now and they'll be getting some more help next week Jenna McConnell gets traded to their team and their starting QB Mila Gunz will move onto Vancouver to replace Deborah Jo Wood at QB.
The WFL game got 71 million viewers for NBC so that could've made a huge difference in getting NBC to beat ROD.
Tonight we have the Los Angeles Stars in action tonight down in Australia on ROD Saturday Night Football and some new episodes of Sheila Carter and Baywatch later in the night. NBC has Xtina Grimmie Hour auditions out in South Korea as The Carpenters Hour franchise makes their debut in Korea and two episodes of Killer Love behind that as well. ICE starts a slew of movie premieres this month starting tonight with 2014 feature film The Lockharts leading into Vegas Showgirls auditions down in Australia. Later in the night the new Punky original series Romeo Miller's Rap City Freestyles which is a new rap battle series premieres at 2am as ICE will air it there until Vegas Showgirls heads into Detroit Week according to their sources.

ICE has been killing it this week with their new shows starting with DJ Becky in primetime then ICE Starlets vs. Cheerleaders yesterday and then today with Braceface and Dance Lessons with tWitch and Allison. Whatever lineups all four of these shows are residing in they're much stronger now than they were a week ago that's why I'm glad Proxio said Saturday mornings might get tougher on the other two networks because ICE looks more powerful now especially if Madison's new show and Karate School works out well for them.
This is why I am enjoying having a full season this year because you learn about these networks based on how they adapt and make changes.
I'm still waiting to see what ROD does to adjust to NBC as I think ROD is playing it smart right now taking their time to adjust. We'll see what happens but ROD overall as a network seems much weaker this year. I don't want to fully blame Lucy Hale and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood for that but I think their draft was really poor and that's why their ratings are in the tank this fall.

I'm very happy with all of the new shows that have premiered this week for us as I'm a little shocked at how high Braceface and Dance Lessons were for us this makes me really confident in how our new Saturday Morning Teen ICE block is going to full form.
Braceface's repeat numbers later in the day definitely shocked me as well doing better than the original episodes as Monday's numbers will be interesting at 7pm. G.I. Jane and Tomb Raiders benefitted from the later timeslot move in a weaker slot.
Dance Lessons was actually a gamble considering Bella Thorne's Cold Ass Igloo was doing really well to start this new season but this was a gamble that paid off well for us.
I can't believe ROD lost to NBC again as Jethro is cooking over there.

Chucky got us started really low so we were down and I might have to look at replacing Karlie Kloss as host of Wake Me Up Karlie Kloss or just get rid of that show period and replace it. We need to now really find something that can compete against ICE. NBC will win a lot of Saturdays against us because of the WFL so we can't be too worried about losing to them in the fall.
Braceface did better than I expected that's a huge threat now and Dance Lessons is a problem for Guitar Lessons, I might have to change slots for that show.
