NBC BREAKS ICE'S WEEKDAY DAYTIME STREAK OF WINS THANKS TO THE SHIELDS SISTERS
The streak is over, the streak is over, the streak is over! ICE has finally not finished in first place on a weekday in daytime. They have dominated to start this season with 20 days worth of victories in a row dating back to Friday September 7th, 2018. Eventually ICE was going to likely lose that streak once they started their two-week hiatus later this month but nobody would have thought it would've happened before that point so this is a huge victory for NBC over ICE as they actually beat ROD to the punch ending the streak.
NBC Daytime is slowly starting to catch fire lately as they are making adjustments to their daytime lineup as their new Daytime President Jethro Grantham is already making an impact there. Network President Erinn Hayes and Head Programmer Nick Robinson have done a great job in constructing this schedule as well.
The absolute difference for NBC having a chance to catch ROD for 2nd place this season has been their trio of Shields sisters in Allison, Barbara, and Terri.
THE HOUSE THAT LOVE BUILT KILLS GUIDING LIGHT
Barbara Shields just started a story arc that last through next week on The House That Love Built and she got the ratings up to 35 million viewers on her first guest on the morning soap. The House That Love Built crushed Guiding Light which never reached over 30 million viewers in its entire run since ROD rebooted the soap last season. This shows the drawing power of all of the Shields sisters right now as a whole as they continue to draw to start this new season. Before Barbara was on there The House That Love Built struggled against Guiding Light most days so this is a huge pickup for them and NBC has made moves with the cast to hopefully get it strong enough for the future.
The House That Love Built had bigger ratings than All My Children and Star 80 on ICE as well and almost beat Another World at 36.83 million viewers who will lose Vika Bronova after tomorrow afternoon's episode.
The House That Love Built's episode on Thursday became the most watched episode for any NBC soap this season so far as it surpassed Drama Place's new-high of 31.36 million viewers earlier this morning at 6am.
Barbara Shields continues her run on The House That Love Built again tomorrow and her guest stint ends on Tuesday according to NBC sources.
Barbara's sister Terri Shields got the ratings up to a season-high for The Anna Kendrick Show making her show the fifth talk show this season to reach over 50 million viewers this season on a weekday in daytime. The other four talk shows were Tahj & Arielle AM, It's High Noon with Pyper America, Amber Montana's Afternoon Showcase, and Women's Sports Club. The Anna Kendrick Show beat Tracy Kimmell Live to that mark thanks to the appearance from Terri Shields. Anna Kendrick also had NBC's new General Manager Tempestt Bledsoe as well on there today.
Terri Shields has been a beast this season in contributing to huge ratings for her network and she will try to help Rachel get another new ratings record tonight.
Barbara and Terri's boss over at ICE and in another couple of weeks is Jessica Lowndes as she had her introductory press conference in front of the media earlier this afternoon and we've seen a surge of huge ratings lately with these press conferences and this was a big one for NBC since Jessica Lowndes is a huge name NITRO and now she was introduced in front of the media as their new NBC Hottie and Studio Chief starting on Monday October 22nd, 2018 taking over for Selena Gomez who is about to leave the position soon to focus on ownership with Justin Bieber and his girlfriend Hailey Baldwin.
Jessica Lowndes will bring a lot to NBC in her time here as CEO coming up and getting 46 million viewers for this press conference is a huge number as it gave Anna Kendrick the lead-in she needed with a strong core of guests to get a record audience for her show.
NBC's great day continued with horror feature Open House which bled half of the lead-in but still hung on enough to keep NBC's high enough to defeat ICE and it killed Child's Play 2 on ROD and then Victoria Justice's Afterschool Special grew to a series-high 21 million viewers. I Love Lucy and Roseanne had good lead-ins but again didn't do low enough to lose to ICE who had their late afternoon movie presentation of the 1982 classic Ladies and Gentleman, The Fabulous Stains starring a young Diane Lane from the early 80s which did better than Open House at 28 million viewers. This movie will air again on Punky sometime next week according to ICE sources.
ICE overall had a quiet day as they were down after a huge record setting day yesterday but is probably happy that Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains did pretty good. Staying Alive did not have Strawberry Shields on Thursday as she had the day off. Vika Bronova has one more day at ICE as she will film her last episode of Another World live tomorrow afternoon.
ROD is in some serious trouble in daytime as Daytime President Jacqueline MacInnes Wood is facing some heat now NBC is getting closer and closer on them. One of the concerns about ROD's Guiding Light losing to The House That Love Built is a precursor to what might happen if Sunset Beach loses to NBC's The Music Box Killer which debuts in that slot later this month. We'll see if ROD makes the necessary changes to hold onto 2nd place.
Tonight we have Rachel leading the Must See TV comedy lineup on NBC as we expect another big victory from NBC but ROD has their pageant shows to compete but they are in still in the audition stages at this point. ICE has taken the night off but will have one of Audrina Patridge's fashion shows airing tonight in primetime so it will be the first time that ICE will feature a shopping show on their network and in primetime at that as well.

NBC had what I like to call a big boy day in daytime they got a chance to see what life is like for ICE everyday at the top.
We pointed out how important Barbara Shields' appearance would be on The House That Love Built because we knew that was going to have a huge impact on the rest of the lineup and it did as Guiding Light was destroyed. Guiding Light is not a weak soap though but soaps have to score better than 20 million viewers in the ratings these days in my opinion. LA Passions had a really nice outing for ROD as it seems to be heating up lately but The House That Love Built was a huge difference maker.
These press conferences are doing huge numbers this week as I knew Jessica Lowndes was gonna get a hefty turnout and I did notice that Terri Shields was a guest on The Anna Kendrick Show that made a huge difference there that did enough to keep everything behind it ahead of ROD and enough to defeat ICE because that was a pretty tight network average. ICE was down on Thursday but their lineup is so strong that even on a low day they're so hard to beat. The Diane Lane classic did pretty well for them it topped Chucky 2 and Open House, man Chucky repeats horribly for ROD. LOL!
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood needs to be worried because Youth of Life did really well for NBC and I think this is a sign of things to come because NBC inserting those repeats will keep their network average up now all they need is The Music Box Killer to premiere and I can see NBC beating ROD for 2nd place on a regular basis so they're in trouble.

Barbara Shields equals ratings she did very well and this is starting to get scary for ROD in daytime because NBC is really gaining on them pretty hard right now
Vika Bronova on hew new soap Music Box Killer is the killshot for ROD
i don't think Guiding Light is that weak but it's weak in terms of the ratings need to be higher as it can be beat

The House That Love Built will be interesting tomorrow as our lineup is going to be stronger again.
ROD is in trouble and if Guiding Light was performing like that on my network I would've either cancelled it, moved it to Punky, or improved the cast like NBC did with The House That Love Built.

OH MY LORD! Shit just got real we're in trouble if NBC is really aggressive in improving in daytime.
We're just burning off Chucky as we don't have our second network LHN ready to go yet so we're forced to burn these movies off this month. Hopefully Freddy vs. Jason does way better tomorrow.
