2 HOURS OF HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA HELPS PUT ICE ON TOP FOR THE 13TH TIME THIS SEASON
If you're watching any of the young-skewing dramas Teen Angels, The Wrong Students, The L.A., The Waves, or Aria, The Pretty Little Bitch you're definitely getting good quality entertainment on hump day Wednesdays. The only thing that separates these dramas is their popularity and it's clear that ICE has the two most popular young-skewing dramas on the night.
Teen Angels reached a new season-high of 107 million viewers leading off the night and ICE's Tammy Oldehoff made the rounds earlier in the daytime promoting tonight's episode of Teen Angels. We've seen it with Truck Ladies and Dallas Cowgirls Undercover how popular these young female sleuths are becoming in NITRO. These shows bring in some high-quality drama with a bright cast of young up and coming stars and one of the things that ICE was very smart at doing with Teen Angels these past two seasons was putting Teen Angels in a desired early timeslot so the youngsters wouldn't have to stay up too late to catch this series. They did a nice job as well pairing it with The Wrong Students which is the network's hottest new drama this season. With Dasha's added drama against Bridget Satterlee and her hometown Vancouver rival Nancy Nery that spiked the ratings back close to 120 million viewers after falling down to 104 million viewers last week. ICE has found a great double-threat for the rest of the fall in these two dramas.
What may be a concern to ICE is that one of their main stars Tammy Oldehoff might be in some hot water with her studio with her boss Paige Van Buren recently for a hidden flare up between Tammy and Megan May Williams. We provided a background on how detrimental Megan has been with her bullying tactics. Tammy Oldehoff was supposed to be on Megan's ICE Starlets team that's supposed to go against various cheerleading teams from the WFL and the high school level in a new competitive game show debuting next Friday in daytime. Megan got into a fight with Tammy and kept her off the team. This pissed off Tammy and she didn't show up for the most recent filming of the show for an episode that's supposed to air in a few weeks.
This could lead Tammy moving to Los Angeles or Paris although she has expressed interest in wanting to be with NBC in Paris since they don't tolerate bullying. Tammy used to be a bully herself back in the day as a mean girl but she's trying to change her ways and Megan's not letting her do it as Megan wanted her to help rape girls at the high school and she wouldn't do it.
We'll see how this real-life drama effects ICE and Teen Angels in the future if she actually moves to NBC before November Sweeps starts on Halloween.
The adult late night comedy block scored another set of good ratings performances but the Saved By the Bell franchise is starting to struggle on the network lately except for Kelly Kapowski but The Adult Years numbers were still great as retention out of The Wrong Students kept it over 100 million viewers. Bastard Kids did grow out of it which is a healthy sign that Bastard Kids is still a very popular sitcom and not having a sophomore slump. Next week a completely new revised version of DJ Becky comes into the comedy block and this could be huge since this will be Strawberry's second leading sitcom in NITRO her first was Foreign Exchange on defunct RTN late last season. ICE says the comedy will likely air at 11pm right behind Bastard Kids next Wednesday when it premieres.
Lucy Hale (ROD Sony Alliance) (CEO), Aria, The Pretty Little Bitch (NBC-TV) (Channel 4)
LUCY DOES DOUBLE DUTY ON TWO DIFFERENT NETWORKS ON THE SAME NIGHT
ROD and NBC had a pretty interesting race between each other and NBC lost a shot at gaining more ground on ROD as the network averages was close enough for NBC to catch ROD. Once Heather premieres it's possible that NBC can overtake ROD for 2nd place. Aria, The Pretty Little Bitch moved up to 70 million viewers against The Nanny Diaries which had a similar performance to Tuesday's 8pm set of comedies The Stella Sisters and newbie Baby Don't Rush. Aria had the same amount of viewers that Fugitive at 17 had last night so this is a pretty good performance. Aria is just missing a partner and with Seattle Mysteries on an island by itself it should make the move over to Wednesdays to join Aria and Heather. The Waves and Killer Love are flopping and don't look to have a future in NITRO soon as they dragged down NBC's average and NBC Stars After Dark to below 50 million viewers.
ROD was able to stay ahead of NBC because of that collapse behind Aria as a set of I Love Lucy Hale repeats kept the network over 50 million viewers and ahead of NBC. Rookie Koy Jung's new variety show jumped the ratings back up to 64 million viewers giving The L.A. a good enough lead-in to keep pace ahead of NBC Stars After Dark. Koy Jung so far is looking like a promising rookie already for the ROD Knockouts.
This race between ROD and NBC is actually really close that things will get interesting when Heather premieres and we don't know if ROD is going to fill that 9pm hour up with anything yet as ROD has said they're not interested in competing against The Wrong Students for right now since Dasha Dereviankina's popularity keeps rising which is why ROD is keeping that hour open right now as they're confident that Koy Jung will be able to rise out of whatever repeats they air there but things will get tougher once Heather debuts.
Tomorrow is the big day for Rachel and NBC as Terri Shields steps into the spotlight and will look to exceed the challenge of Rachel getting over 130 million viewers or not for Terri's first episode as a leading cast member on the show. This will be a huge night for the rest of their comedies as the strong and weak will stick out as retention levels will be huge tomorrow night. ROD continues their pageant shows as the Junior Beauty Pageant auditions looks for the best young talent in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania in Cleveland and Miss ROD Pageant auditions continue in music city Nashville. ICE will have a quiet night as Secret Auntie repeats at 10pm. ROD and NBC will be favorites to win the night and it's a key night in the season standings.
