GAME THOUGHTS
Kate Beckinsale gets her soccer club off to a 2-0 start as Team ICE edges Northern Secondary School by a goal thanks to 17-year old Canadian soccer phenom Jordyn Huitema who scored both goals today for Coach Beckinsale.
Jordyn Huitema scored the very first goal of the game to put Team ICE up 1-0 then she scored the game winning goal for the second week in a row this time in extra time as Jordyn has scored 3 goals this season.
Joanna Halpin and Farah Holt had some missed goals but they contributed on both of Jordyn Huitema's goals with an assist for each.
Vika Bronova made her goalkeeping debut as she surrendered only one goal off of 13 shots getting 12 saves in this game similar to Hope Solo last week who only surrendered one goal against Norwood.
The defenders made a huge difference in this game as Megan May Williams was impressive and Daphne Bertram looked impressive as well in her official ICE debut.
On the flip-side for Northern the standout was Xenia Deli who scored the only goal of the game for the visitors as this is great news for ROD as their other draft pick Aaliyah Costa attributed on that assist.
Sofija Milosevic who returned to Ontario where she grew up had a solid outing only giving up those two goals but she had 14 saves so she looked good in net and wasn't a disaster in this loss.
Northern despite having ROD and NBC players help them was just out physical in this game but defensive Italiana Richmond and Kalani Hilliker were the two standouts keeping ICE from getting more goals.
The next soccer match will be next week on the road for Team ICE at Earl Haig Secondary School as Vika Bronova will get the start again and we'll see if Jordyn Huitema can keep up her hot streak.
