STAYING ALIVE CELEBRATES ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY BY PREMIERING A NEW DAYTIME SOAP
Whenever we get a new daytime soap to premiere here on NITRO Television that usually spells a pretty historic day and ICE's newest daytime soap is Staying Alive which is a new television adaption of the 1983 hit feature film sequel Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta. Staying Alive started off as a primetime drama pilot but then ICE made a swap with the ROD pilot Self-Defense to give both dramas a better chance at success and so far things seem to be working well for both as Self-Defense premiered last night but will still have to prove itself without a huge lead-in on Thursdays starting this week. STRAWBERRY SHIELDS = RATINGS! Strawberry Shields flew back home last night after her WFL game in Seattle with the Jewel and promoted her new daytime soap on It's High Noon with Pyper America which had 61.71 million viewers which is now a new record for Pyper America ever since she took over as host of the old Noon Show. Strawberry lifted the entire Love in the Afternoon Soap block as we saw All My Children earlier grow out of The Carpenters Hour Tonight then Love in the Afternoon Live had a backstage preview of Staying Alive. Star 80 and Another World captured ratings they typically got on Fridays this season so far leading into the huge Staying Alive premiere which grabbed 59 million viewers which is the highest rating to-date for a new daytime soap premiere in NITRO history that led into Youthful Daydreamers which may no longer be the highest rated soap in the lineup and that's the interesting part of Staying Alive's ratings is that it could be the highest rated soap depending on how it rates the rest of this week. The other thing two is that Staying Alive could lift the ratings a little bit airing in the middle of the lineup as opposed to Youthful Daydreamers which closes the lineup so we could see a bigger benefit here. Many reviews saw Strawberry as a much and improved actor as well from her Group Home days back in 2013 where was seen as a real bad actor by some like Stephen A. Smith back then. Shawn Travolta was brought into to co-star in the soap as well as Shawn was working previously before RTN shutdown their doors. To close the historic day for ICE we had some WFL Football to top things off as the high-powered Tampa Sol offense led by Malena Morgan made a visit to the Norwood Octans who put on a surprising performance against the Toronto Icegals on Sunday Night Football last week. Air Canada Park was jumping on this rare Monday matinee ready for Malena Morgan like that Philly crowd was last week and it was another shootout and it was another overtime affair for Tampa but this time they would lose as Norwood got the game winning touchdown thanks to another defensive turnover as Eva Adams closed out the game with a interception return for a touchdown to bring down the house just like Ivy Herbert did in Toronto the night before off another great QB in Elle Alexandra of the Dallas Cowgirls. This would mark the first victory in franchise history for the Norwood Octans and they now improve to 1-1 in a tough Canadian division meanwhile Tampa will finally get a chance to go back home as they host state rivals the Miami Sharks on Sunday afternoon. ROD came in 2nd place over NBC as they had nothing unusual to report as Hunter & Kacey continues to be the standout the lineup and in the afternoon Pill Popper Jane and Star Girl finished around 16 million viewers between the two against tough competition from ICE. Sunset Beach struggled against the WFL game scoring well below its average this season.
NBC had one of its better days in weekday daytime as some of their shows improved with the standouts being their two morning soaps Drama's Place and Fashion House and War Update stayed over 10 million viewers and The House That Love Built with guest appearances from Scott Clifton and Roseanne Barr lifted THTLB to over 11 million viewers out of its lead-in. The Anna Kendrick Show was up too with no Tracy Kimmell to battle in the timeslot. Victoria Justice continues to impress with the NBC Afterschool Special which for the first time this season didn't face ICE's Afterschool Special and got a series-high 16.70 million viewers making it the most watched NBC program of the day in daytime. Terri Shields moved her variety show to daytime and did pretty well growing out of the Jonas Brothers against the record setting performance for weekday daytime by the WFL game of 125 million viewers in that 7pm timeslot. Terri Shields almost beat ROD's game show Jackpot in that slot as well. Tonight we will have a big night for ROD as they finally launch the fall's second most anticipated new scripted series in Dallas Cowgirls Undercover right in front of their inaugural network debut of Monday Night Football out in Las Vegas. ICE will have week two of Truck Ladies against DCU and following that the return of The Carpenters Hour leading in for the season premiere of Overnight Nurses which was a surprise hit nighttime medical soap last season.

Strawberry Shields helped lift everything and I think that dynamic of airing at 3pm will be interesting. I think Staying Alive might go back-and-forth with Youthful Daydreamers as it won't be this high every single day.
Good victory for Norwood definitely keeping an eye on all of those teams in that division. Eva Adams, Ivy Herbert, and Dasha Dereviankina seem to be having great starts to their week.

Great start for Staying Alive as this could be NITRO's top soap but I still believe Youthful Daydreamers may still have the edge airing a slot later everyday.
This is great news for ICE that Strawberry Shields is looking like the real deal here I think the #1 actor in NITRO will either be Strawberry or Kay Shields this season.
Eva Adams is off to a great start this week she will be hella interesting tomorrow along with Ivy Herbert and Dasha Dereviankina who all stepped up in the WFL this week.
