NBC SPORTS HELPS THE NEWLY REBRANDED NBC CAPTURE SECOND PLACE AWAY FROM ROD
On this second Saturday of the season we had ICE on top with ease as this was a huge test week for their new Teen ICE block in the Saturday morning battle as they got a huge bump in the morning hours thanks to a huge repeat performance out of Team ICE which has displayed some serious replay power during this young part of the season. That led into new adventure dramas Tomb Raider and G.I. Jane which took advantage of its lead-in staying over 20 million viewers but they aren't as powerful as the new Saved By the Bell reboot which stayed over 30 million viewers this week after its near 40 million viewing premiere last Saturday and what's even more impressive is how Kelly Kapowski's repeat performances have not dropped really much at all behind it. The Swimming Diaries kept pace behind the Saved By the Bell hour and Bella Thorne's Cold Ass Igloo rang up 36 million viewers thanks to guest spot appearances from the controversial bully herself Megan May Williams, new star athlete Penny Perchik, Molly in South Philly producer Alexandra Daddario, and rapper superstar J. Cole who heated up the cold igloo. That all led into coverage of the WFL's first Saturday afternoon of the season as ICE's coverage between the New Zealand Kiwis hosting the Berlin Thunder actually lost to NBC's game which we'll get into in a moment but New Zealand Quarterback Georgia Fowler continues to be a quiet story this season as she leads her team to a 2-0 start this season. We just mentioned earlier that SBC in their first day of action as the newly rebrand National Broadcasting Company (NBC) edged ROD for a really tight victory over ROD averaging 17.22 million viewers to their 17.19 million viewers with the main advantage being the afternoon coverage of NBC Sports combination of Team SBC Practice and WFL Saturday Football action as it was SBC's first ever WFL daytime game they've ever telecast since they captured the rights to the league back in 2016. Team SBC will be officially under the Team NBC moniker on Tuesday when some of their selected athletes help Team ROD and Northern Secondary School take on Team ICE up in Toronto so we got a chance to see the actors who don't play for the Paris Bulldogs franchise practice although the ratings were slightly under what they brought in last Saturday.
As we mentioned before NBC's strength was with the WFL Football game and this could be a huge difference maker for NBC in daytime during the weekends against ROD as the Paris Bulldogs who had a lot more stars on their team outdrew the ICE game by 20 million viewers as the game drew 75.38 million viewers in the Paris home opener against the Hong Kong Dragons. Paris QB Jenna McConnell helped lead a comeback against Hong Kong who led 27-3 at halftime very surprisingly as Paris had a real slow start but the talent really took over as Jenna threw for more than 400 yards and threw 4 touchdowns in this game after struggling in the first half with 3 picks but her receiver Pauline Hoarau had a huge day with catching 3 touchdowns in the game and running back Topanga Jamora ran for almost 200 yards on the ground and got a touchdown as Paris came back to beat Hong Kong 35-27 in this game for their first win of the season after losing to Detroit the week before. Paris looks like they'll be one of the WFL's top draws this season.
NBC captured their first 2nd place victory of the season in daytime and first victory over ROD in daytime as well although this was a weekend daytime edition of the ratings picture so NBC will still need to beat ROD during the week. Earlier in the day NBC had some decent performances from their soap's weekly recaps but they were mess leading into Team SBC Practice as G. Hannelius' new talker was down from last week and Nick Jonas brought down Anna Kendrick's weekend talker as Anna Kendrick has struggled against ROD's talkers head-to-head to start this season as Nikki Shields had her new enemy Tracy Kimmell on as a guest and sister Santana Shields on as well. ROD overall outside of sports coverage beat up NBC pretty well but the WFL made the huge difference. Let's talk about ROD as they have an interesting Saturday morning cartoon lineup that did okay not really dropping too much from last week as that whole block kept ahead of NBC. We're not sure what ROD thinks of these numbers long-term as they're not close to competing with Teen ICE but they're handing NBC pretty well there. The variety show talkers did much better as Karlie Kloss got the ratings up a little and Santana Shields guitar education show continues to be a solid draw on Saturdays. The real surprise for ROD as they were the only network without a WFL game they repeated very well with Baywatch and Pretty Thieves as Pretty Thieves has become a huge valued pickup for their network this early part of the season.
ROD right now is healthy on Saturdays but will need something more powerful to beat out NBC in the coming weekends. Tonight we will The Xtina Grimmie Hour returning on NBC tonight and the network will celebrate its rebranding after that while ROD had their first WFL Saturday Night Football game of the season and Sheila Carter will finally face Saturday Night Diamond Girls on ICE which is a taped edition so this will be key here and Vegas Showgirls holds their second week of auditions as well down in Charlotte earlier in the night.

The Saved By the Bell franchise is off to a terrific start this season on ICE and Bella Thorne is doing way better than Zendaya with her talk show.
Nikki Shields not doing too badly with her talk show and Santana Shields doing a great job with her guitar show. What an acquisition was Pretty Thieves was to ROD and keeping Baywatch on the home network was a great decision.
If NBC just runs with sports in the afternoon on Saturdays they can beat ROD every week.

The Saved By the Bell franchise is killing right now and our Saturday morning stuff is way out ahead so no worries there just yet and Bella Thorne is doing surprisingly well I didn't think it would be over 30 million viewers I thought it would be around 20-25 million viewers.
The WFL ratings will go back-and-forth depending on who has the bigger game it will be the same way on Sundays doesn't matter what network the games air on it depends on the draw of the players and teams and Paris is proving to be a strong draw like Quebec is turning out to be this season.
NBC will be happy next week because they have the Dallas Cowgirls for their home opener on Sunday Night Football next Sunday.
