GAME THOUGHTS
The Team ICE baseball team has been on cruise control to start the season as they've posted in 33 runs in their first two games under new manager Samantha Hoopes who is doing an incredible so far in her young career.
The story of the game has to be the threat of the first two batters of the lineup Nancy Nery and Penny Perchik who are becoming hard outs for pitching staffs on the high school circuit to start this new season.
Both Nancy and Penny are starting the season a combined 14 for 15 in their bats only being out one time through the first two games and hitting at a .933 batting average clip.
What's making the tandem hard to get out is that they see a lot of pitches as they've been walked a combined 5 times this year and they relentlessly get on base every time you look up.
Nancy Nery has been a speed demon on the base paths getting 3 runs in this game and scoring 7 times this season with 3 stolen bases on the year and added a double and a triple today.
Nancy has yet to be out this season so this is something to keep a sharp eye on right now.
Due to this Penny Perchik is getting favorable pitch counts in her favor and that allowed Penny to have a big-time game today with 2 homers and 6 runs knocked in as she was not out today.
Penny Perchik was all over the field too on defense stopping everything in her tracks as she's a real gold glove candidate at 2nd base.
The 3-4-5 hitters Bridget Satterlee, Natalie Ceretti, and now Theresa Bush who bats fifth were feasting on Norwood pitching this afternoon driving in 13 runs today and Bridget Satterlee knocked out two more homers.
Theresa Bush gives that part of the order a true threat behind Bridget and Natalie right now and Theresa continues to play 3rd base very well defensively as well.
Mila Gunz was on the pitching mound today and she had a great game surrendering only two runs in this game and keeping a lot of baserunners from scoring.
The bullpen got their shot at some innings as Mila came out during the fifth inning and Deborah Jo Wood got the last two batters in a non-save situation.
Gia Radionova gets the start next week and Mackenzie Herbert starts the week after in her highly anticipated debut.
