ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
The big game is finally here and Elle Alexandra has indeed returned to Montreal for the first time since January 2014 when she led Quebec to a playoff win that year against the Toronto Icegals before leaving to sign a huge contract to become the Dallas Cowgirls next quarterback. They've been waiting ever since to get their revenge on Elle Alexandra for that betrayal of a decision to leave their city behind. Luckily for Montreal the Quebec Nordiques are one of the most talented teams in the league and hometown kid Vitoria "Vika" Bronova replaces her at quarterback and she's surrounded around some good young players like Shannon Pouliot, Airee Brooks, Hanna Edwinson, Celeste Desjardins, Aaliyah Costa, Leah Maturo, and Lulu Leithold.
On the Dallas side of the football they've got some talent too as SBC Hottie Chase Carter makes her WFL debut in this game at running back as the world gets to see what the hype is about on one of NITRO's best athletes taken in the most recent draft. Meredith Mickelson and Abby Champion also play for the Dallas franchise so a lot of star power coming into Dallas here. ICE's Audrey Krag leads the Dallas team as their new Head Coach.
MNF OPENER IS THE MOST WATCHED TELECAST IN NITRO HISTORY
Now the question is how would this game go in what could be one of the top most anticipated games in WFL history to open the new WFL season led by ROD's Blake Shelton who sang the historic MNF opening intro theme with Hank Williams, Jr. asking viewers were they ready for some football? Based on these ratings they were indeed ready as the game cleared in 181.02 million viewers surpassing Friday's record set by The New Girls in Town Pageant second season opener of 175.1 million viewers. ICE also set a record for highest all-time network average getting 151.3 million viewers surpassing Wednesday's record of 144.1 million viewers.
For the game itself it was an overtime thriller and a great one as Elle Alexandra was booed all game long and harassed by the fans as the extra police presence at this game really helped and there was a 10-15 minute delay to remove debris that was thrown on the field in what looked like a potential riot was going to happen. It was an absolutely crazy atmosphere as emotions were high with a lot of different fights taken place during the game and in the stands with 77 arrests made to fans who had to exit the stadium and go to jail. One fan even tried to touch Elle Alexandra during the game but luckily security got that crazy bastard off the field. We hadn't seen anything like this in the WFL before the closest we seen to some wild shit like this taking place was back in 2013 during Malena Morgan's debut against this same Quebec Nordiques when many of their defensive players were attempting to rape Malena on the field and we got a huge brawl at the end of that game. So if you wanted a revenge game for the ages you got one.
Vika Bronova went toe-to-toe with Elle Alexandra in this one but the defense was great on both sides keeping the score low and Chase Carter was a beast in the backfield during her debut performance getting a week-high 254 yards on the ground and a 78-yard touchdown that gave Dallas a 14-7 lead in the middle of the fourth quarter. Elle did throw a crucial interception when Lulu Leithold returned a touchdown earlier in the 2nd half to give Quebec their first score of the game then Vika Bronova threw her first career touchdown to Hanna Edwinson to tie the game at 14 all.
Then the game goes to overtime with Dallas getting the ball first but Elle Alexandra makes her biggest mistake in the game throwing her second interception to Airee Brooks giving Vika Bronova the stage to become the star in her first WFL game and she did just that throwing a 27-yard touchdown to Hanna Edwinson to win the game at the buzzer getting the entire crowd at Olympic Stadium onto the field to celebrate the biggest regular season victory in WFL history.
The sellout crowd completed a weekend of full capacity crowds all weekend in the WFL as all of the stadiums had 100% attendance no empty seats.
Earlier in the night we had the huge premiere of Truck Ladies which thanks to the MNF lead-out got a record breaking 117 million viewers which is the highest rating for a new series drama premiere. ICE made a smart decision to premiere Truck Ladies next to Monday Night Football as ROD will have the advantage starting next week having Dallas Cowgirls Undercover premiere next to it. Truck Ladies is a huge vehicle for Liz Turner and Tammy Oldehoff so ICE has to be happy about this start.
ROD took the night off and SBC really couldn't compete as their lineup finished in last place behind WFL replays picking up no points falling back to earth after two historic nights for their network on Saturday and Sunday.
Jaws has really fallen off for SBC getting 48.14 million viewers which was the highest rating of the night for them but Jaws was right in this area last season. L&O: LA and CSI: LA were way off the map but it will be hard for SBC to compete all fall against MNF and The Carpenters Hour in those slots.
Next Monday we'll get Dallas Cowgirls Undercover (DCU) against Truck Ladies then The Carpenters Hour vs. Monday Night Football on ROD and Overnight Nurses returns for its second season.
Tomorrow we'll have Team ICE going against two unique comedy lineups as TGIF turns into TGIT this season for SBC and ROD debuts it's new ROD Country Tuesdays lineup as The Stella Sisters and Somethin' Bad return along with Hayden's Country Hour. Kelly's Thugs has a two-hour season premiere in the later hours tomorrow.
