THE WFL IS BACK AND IT'S OPENING DAY AROUND THE WORLD

One of the most glorious days of the year on the NITRO calendar is the opening day of WFL Football and after a 5-year hiatus the league returned and people were happy about it by way of the ratings which opened at historic level setting a new daytime ratings record of 143.65 million viewers during the league's Game of the Week matchup between the Paris Bulldogs and the Detroit Fury who opened their season as defending world champions and received their rings and raised the banner as the league's second champions.

The new season opened with a bang as the league's first Sunday afternoon started with a shootout for the ages as Malena Morgan and her Tampa Sol which finished the 2013 season as an improved team after Malena made her first start traveled to South Philadelphia to take on the brand new Molly Ephraim and Alexandra Krosney owned Broad Street Bullies franchise who had hometown stars like Kyla Ray and the Terrible Twins Jesalyn and Vanessa Moe. None of them disappointed as Vanessa kept up with Malena in this shootout that ended in an overtime thriller where Malena threw the game winning touchdown to Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson who had a huge day catching 4 touchdowns herself giving Broad Street a loss in their first ever game as a franchise. Vanessa Moe was equally sharp throwing 5 touchdown passes with three of them going to Hilarie Vitelli. Vanessa sister on defense caught two interceptions and took them both back for touchdowns as she was a beast on defense just like she was for Team ICE back on Wednesday night. Angie Bonanni was pretty good at safety too so although this defense surrendered 63 points their defense is going to be great this season but Malena Morgan is really hard to stop. Carmela Rose and Tammy Oldehoff had strong games on defense as Carmela Rose caught an interception off of Vanessa Moe.

This game was so hot it opened up with 133.32 million viewers and got social media buzzing especially about Paris Jackson's outstanding performance as Paris has had an amazing week so far in NITRO. A lot of people are calling this the Molly in South Philly game.

Over on ROD in the same early games window Madison Beer was featured leading her New York Hitmen at home against the Bostonian Alfonso sisters at Yankee Stadium. Dinah Jeter played quarterback on the same grounds as her uncle Derek Jeter and she had a fine debut but the story was New York's ferocious defense that Boston just couldn't keep up in this one as they lost this game 38-24 on the road but with the Alfonso sisters in here this new Boston team can be decent and make a play for the playoffs. This game drew in 70 million viewers over on ROD which was really amazing against that Molly in South Philly matchup over on ICE.

Elsewhere of note in the early games Farah Holt picked up a win for the British Invasion against the Amsterdam Heinekens at home and Megan May Williams had the most tackles of the day finishing the day with 22 tackles for her team. The new Jacksonville Stripes looks like they could have a pretty good team this year as rookie quarterback Koy Jung and running back Jasmine Sanders led their team to a 30-19 victory at home over the Nashville Ladies. Russia who has a lot of talent like Tonya Krosney opened up their season at home with a comfortable 34-17 win over the Berlin Thunder who has a team of talent themselves like the Van Der Beek sisters. Rookie Head Coach Sasha Luss led Russia to victory as Tonya Krosney got 2 interceptions and a return for a touchdown to help her team win. Tonya Krosney is going to be a really great football player in this league. Finally Paige Reifler led the Miami Sharks to a dominating 38-16 win at home against the Washington Americans as ROD Knockout Hailey Outland had 15 tackles in this game, 2 sacks, and an interception for her team.

In the middle games of the WFL tripleheader we had an intriguing matchup between the Milwaukee Millers and Chicago Enforcers and this game lost a lot of steam after RTN shutdown operations the day before as Milwaukee feasted on that decision dominating their new rivals to the south at Wrigley Field. Bridget Satterlee returned home to a chorus of boos from the crowd but that didn't phase her as she dominated this game with her linebacking teammate Natalie Ceretti as Bridget and Nat were a terror to the Enforcers the whole afternoon. Bridget Satterlee picked up 16 tackles and got a pick and scored a touchdown off of it and Natalie Ceretti did the exact same thing except she had 10 tackles and a pick in this game. Both of them looked scary in this game while Nancy Nery in the secondary completely shutdown the passing game. Their quarterback Jelena Mariucci whose also from Chicago had a nice game for Milwaukee passing for 295 yards while Nicole Meyer grabbed 126 yards on the ground and a touchdown. This Milwaukee team will look to challenge the Detroit Fury in the division this season for the division title. Meanwhile Gia Jolie didn't get any help from Allison Shields, Santana Shields, Tracy Kimmell, or Mia Lasanti at all today as Chicago was held to just 10 points by this young Milwaukee defense.

The Millers first game in Chicago scored 131.7 million viewers over on ROD so there was a lot of interest in this game because of Bridget Satterlee, Natalie Ceretti, Nancy Nery, and Gia Jolie's debuts.

The other two afternoon games were interesting starting down in Houston where Arizona is looking like a surprise team out of the gate this season getting maybe the most surprising victory of the entire day over the Houston Oilers on the road by a score of 28-24 as Sarah Simmons got a game winning interception for her team as she has been rumored to be traded to ICE in the big deal that's gonna go down officially later this week. Sarah Simmons got 11 tackles in the game today and 3 sacks from the linebacking position showing her athletic skills meanwhile SBC's Amber Anderson was a blocking machine on that Houston offensive line. Look for teams to give her a call later in the season to come and block for them. In other action up north we had the BC Grizzlies who are now owned by Jessica Lowndes and the energy support by her quarterback Deborah Jo Wood showed in this game as BC defeated the brand new Saskatchewan Loggers 37-31 in an overtime thriller on the road in a hostile environment. Dasha Dereviankina looked real bad in this game as she is struggling in her young NITRO career but her teammates Alina Kirchiu, Yara Khmidan, and Gia Radionova looked pretty good out there today. This was Paloma Kwiatkowski's first game as the Grizzlies new Head Coach.

JEZEBEL JAMES STARTS HER REVENGE TOUR ON PARIS WITH A BANG

In the late afternoon games starting with the game of the week between the Paris Bulldogs which featured mainly SBC stars as many people are calling the Bulldogs Team SBC just like the Toronto Icegals for ICE and the Los Angeles Stars for ROD against the defending world champion Detroit Fury led by last season's Hooters Bowl MVP Kya Summers. Kya Summers is still as dangerous as she was the year before on defense but the difference this season is that they have a franchise quarterback in Janet Moore. Janet Moore just learned the day before that her studio was shutting down and she becomes an ICE Starlet officially starting on Monday morning. Janet Moore had a huge day in her debut leading her championship team as a rookie to a close victory over Paris 31-24. The difference in this game ended up being Jezebel James who was a terror to that Paris defense starting many fights against them and intimidating them the entire game giving her old studio a preview at what's going to happen to them when they see her for the first time at Battle of the Network Stars this season. Jezebel James was all over the field with 12 tackles and she got the game winning interception for her team with 1 minute left to go in the ball game and the very young Patrick Westbrook got the next interception to officially end the game for Detroit. Paris is going to be a great team themselves as they were tested today on the road in a tough environment at Detroit's Ford Field where the Fury were undefeated last season. Paris quarterback Jenna McConnell looked pretty good at quarterback throwing for over 300 yards in this game as the story of this game for Paris was the strong running of Topanga Jamora who is turning herself into one of SBC's biggest stars so far as she had 150 yards on the ground. The problem for Paris in this game was they kept getting stopped in the redzone which is something they will need to improve on when they return home next week against Tonya Krosney and Russia.

This was obviously the biggest game of the afternoon and the record was set over on ICE as we reported earlier with 144 million viewers scoring a daytime record for this game bleeding into primetime's first hour of the night.

In the other two games we had Los Angeles facing off against the new Mexico Aztecs at home at the Coliseum as the Los Angeles franchise was the old California Quakes from the season before but the team name got transferred up to the Bay Area franchise but no matter what the new name of the franchise is this is one of the most talented teams of the league as they had huge competition at the quarterback position as Hailee Steinfeld ended up winning the job and she proved why she should've as she threw for 477 yards on that Mexico defense in a lopsided 56-3 Mollywhopping of the Aztec Warriors. Lucy Hale who is the new owner of the team made the decision to draft Rachel Mortenson to be the head coach of this football team and have Sean Thompson coordinate the defense. There was an equal amount of distribution in this game as nobody really stood out individually outside of Hailee Steinfeld but Barbara Palvin played really good on the o-line and defensively brand new ROD Knockout Kyra Santoro had 4 sacks in this ballgame and a fumble recovery. Los Angeles does look very scary right now and their sister team down the road in Anaheim faced Colorado in a low-scoring affair in Orange County as the Oranges in their first ever game knocked off Paige Van Buren's old team the Boulders 17-13. Anaheim's Heather Clauson returned home with a great receiving performance grabbing 13 catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Anaheim has a lot of Knockouts on their team just like Los Angeles.

ROD featured the Los Angeles Stars game to 73.26 million viewers despite the blowout.

ICE won the Sunday morning battle easily but ROD had a solid morning. SBC was not even competitive at all but luckily next week they'll get a share of these afternoon WFL games taking over for RTN's Sunday afternoon contract.

Tonight we'll continue with more WFL Football this time in the primetime variety as Sunday Night Football kicks off its run over on SBC with the Toronto Icegals and its share of ICE Starlets like Lisa Grantham, Audreyana Williams, and Jesse Anzalone traveling to Norwood to take on a talented new young franchise in their first ever game at home as a franchise then in late night switch over to ROD as they'll be showing us the WFL debut of Strawberry Shields and Kay Shields together as a tandem for the Seattle Jewel franchise up in San Francisco tonight to take on the new Bay Area Quakes then down under on a Monday afternoon live in Sydney the Kangaroos begin their franchise under a new name like Los Angeles hosting the very talented Nevada Dice with the debut of Kate Li Williams in the backfield and Aisha Williams protecting her on that offensive line. Should be interesting tonight and on non-WFL programming we'll have the season premieres of Eight Is Enough, Baywatch, and Pretty Thieves over on ROD while ICE will open up night two of their NGIT Pageant auditions live from Toronto while SBC kicks off a new season of Seattle Mysteries behind SNF.

SBC GETS ANOTHER WIN TO MOVE IN FRONT OF ROD & TIE ICE IN WINS

Money well spent from SBC Universal Chairman Kevin Smart this past offseason as SBC has gotten two wins in a row coming from ICE properties like the season premiere of The Xtina Grimmie Hour the night before and now the debut of the WFL's version of Sunday Night Football. These two wins helped SBC get in front of ROD who got off to a hot start this season from Lucy Hale. Paige Van Buren's network has given away these programs to the other networks but are now tied with ICE in wins but still lead overall in points going into the first full week of the season tomorrow night.

It was all about the kickoff of a brand new season in the WFL today in NITRO and the audiences have been watching their favorite NITRO female stars in droves today play on the gridiron and that didn't change in primetime as the huge Sunday Night Football premiere attracted 165.90 million viewers making it the second most watched program in NITRO history so far trailing the program it beat on Sunday the New Girls in Town Pageant. Yes I did say that something in NITRO actually beat the NGIT Pageant and it was SNF on SBC.

This was expected to be the first real heavyweight bout of the season between NITRO's two most watched shows and because NGIT Pageant had already premiered on Wednesday it didn't have enough juice to come anywhere near close to beating SNF which had a huge matchup of their own as the most interesting team in the league the Toronto Icegals were in Norwood helping usher in the team's first game as a franchise and opening up their new digs at Air Canada Park in Yonkertown north of downtown Norwood as these two new Canadian rivals have interesting players on both sides of the football in this all-ICE Starlets matchup.

Both Amanda Marleau (Norwood) and Ophelie Guillermand (Toronto) made their debuts as the two team's starting quarterbacks. Mandy Marleau had a great game throwing for 354 yards on that tough Icegals defense.

There were enough draws in this matchup combined with a thrilling finish to out muscle NITRO's Most Watched Show.

The game itself featured so many stars all over the place with 15 different ICE Starlet rookies playing in the game and two others as rookie head coaches as Emily Senko coaches the Icegals and Nadja Bender coaches the Octans so both teams were super fresh on both sides. The Icegals had 11 of the rookie Starlets playing while the Octans had 4 of the rookie Starlets playing. Leading Toronto was hometown native Lorenea Rape on defense as she had a monster game with a 4 sacks terrorizing Norwood's rookie QB Mandy Marleau. Audreyana Williams was the game's MVP though as her 227 yards on the ground and 108 yards in the air receiving for a total of 335 yards on Sunday night was one of the best rushing efforts of the day. Audreyana Williams has already become in just one week for Team ICE as well one of the best offensive weapons in all of football right now. Teenagers Lisa Grantham and Lindsey Visser both had touchdowns from Ophelie Guillermand including Lisa Grantham's game winning touchdown at the buzzer to help Icegals win a thriller in front of a live crowd in Norwood.

Jesse Anzalone was a real star on defense getting 14 tackles and an interception off of Mandy Marleau. Yulia Osmond was good in that linebacking core next to her and Melissa Alonso. Neta Alchemist might be one of the biggest surprises in NITRO right now as she played safety really well all game and Marissa Robertson is another surprise in that secondary stopped Mandy Marleau from getting the upset win a couple of different times in this game.

This game had a lot of great action and the ICE Starlets will stay in town to take on Norwood this Tuesday for the next Team ICE matchup for their first road event of the season.

For SBC this was one of their best scheduled games of the season so it should not be a huge surprise that SNF was able to beat the NGIT Pageant but the victory was still a little bit stunning as hell though.

Sunday Night Football was so monstrous and historical that it gave Seattle Mysteries the best lead-in for the series in its history. Seattle Mysteries has always had to get ratings on its own but SBC gave it as much exposure as possible and Seattle Mysteries actually beat both the WFL Late Night Football game on ROD and Teen Athlete on ICE getting almost 120 million viewers with a retention percentage of 72% which is what Kevin Smart was looking for as Seattle Mysteries needed to get at least 70% retention out of SNF to get off the hot seat. How this translates to its regular airings is unknown right now but SBC is hoping that these new viewers watching will stick with it.

Over on ICE they lost to SBC tonight by just a million viewers despite being strong against SBC and holding off ROD. The New Girls in Town Pageant grabbed over 130 million viewers which is still really good so we'll see how it does on Sundays this fall. The main audition at Scotiabank Arena home to the Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs belonged to Julia Mellor.

Following the pageant was the premiere of NITRO's newest draft competition Teen Athlete which is the second draft competition for males that will get drafted into NITRO but the series also features female competitors. The debut bled quite a bit out of the NGIT Pageant falling all the way down to 91.97 million viewers in the 11pm hour but the football game may have brought it down a ton. Nobody knows at the moment how Teen Athlete will score when it's on its own on Thursday nights so this starts could be seen as solid or disappointing.

ROD followed up in 3rd place and they were the only network offering scripted programming to its viewers and the 75 million viewing average was actually solid for Lucy Hale as this is a much improved network. The night started with the Eight Is Enough season premiere which had to build out of the WFL lead-in because ROD didn't have the Game of the Week like ICE did to start the night so Eight Is Enough got a solid 63 million viewers and that was a big enough lead-in for ROD's premiere of Baywatch which came back home from SBC this season and Baywatch's timeslot is one of the toughest to go against this season as it faces arguably two of NITRO highest rated programs in the NGIT Pageant and SNF all fall long so Baywatch will have its hands full but so far the premiere past the test at a healthy 69 million viewers and grew out of Eight Is Enough. This was way higher than what Baywatch got last season when it aired on SBC the previous season so the change in networks seems to be working out for the program thus far for the Baywatch reboot. Pretty Thieves continues to be the breakout story for ROD already past its season premiere event the numbers stayed over 80 million viewers and grew a surprising 15 million viewers out of Baywatch. This is another acquisition that ROD made that paid off for them a ton as the Janit O'Day shows are off to a hot start this season.

STRAWBERRY & KAY SHIELDS GO TO WORK ON THE BAY AREA

For the WFL's nightcap on ROD we had the Seattle Jewel led by the two baby Shields sisters taking on the Quakes in San Francisco at AT&T Park under the lights. Unlike the game in SNF this one was over after the 1st quarter as Strawberry and Kay Shields connected for the first three touchdowns of the game as Strawberry was just lobbing the ball to her sister Kay as Strawberry threw for over 500 yards in this game and Kay Shields had a similar performance that she had on Team ICE earlier this week where she caught 13 passes for over 300 yards through the air. Supersonic Kay ended up with 5 touchdowns going ham on this defense. Vanessa Moody also was solid at the other receiver position so Strawberry's offense looks fully loaded. The defense led by rookie Zelda Stojanović did just enough in this game to shut things down defensively. Natasha Herbst couldn't do anything to stop Kay as she had a bad game here.

This game drew 114.05 million viewers for ROD in late night.

The other game was down in Australia and that one was a tight shootout as the Nevada Dice were in town giving Victoria Lee all she could handle today in this one for Sydney's home opener doing her part throwing for all of Sydney's five touchdowns in this game but Nevada was just too much on the other side not giving an inch in this close battle as Aisha Williams' little cousin Kate Li Williams was going off in this one on the ground getting 138 yards and three touchdowns. Rachel Mortenson is the Vegas coach. Kara Del Toro and Kelly Love were the two standouts on that Nevada defense as Kelly Love got a clutch interception putting Nevada in range to kick the game winning field goal to hold off Sydney 38-35 in overtime in this game as Sydney receives a crushing Monday afternoon loss in front of the home folks. ROD switched over to this game when the Seattle Jewel game got out of hand during the second half.

Tomorrow Elle Alexandra returns to Montreal for the first time since accepting all of that money to become the new quarterback of the Dallas Cowgirls and Chase Carter makes her debut in her backfield while Vika Bronova replaces her at quarterback in Montreal for the season premiere of Monday Night Football on ICE. ROD runs with WFL repeats to avoid the MNF competition since they'll be taking over the MNF schedule the rest of the fall starting the following Monday. SBC goes with original programming as Jaws premieres its second season tomorrow night. It sounds like Monday will be very quiet outside of the football game and the huge premiere of ICE's Truck Ladies which gets a head start on ROD's Dallas Cowgirls Undercover.

Congratulations to SBC the last couple of nights glad my shows could contribute to their wins and Seattle Mysteries as well which they got back in 2012 off of us. I think Seattle Mysteries is the highest rated scripted show ever on their network.

We'll move back in front with ease tomorrow night with Monday Night Football as these WFL games are drawing huge audiences this weekend and that's the biggest game of the weekend and maybe one of the biggest of the entire season with Dallas and Elle Alexandra going into a hostile environment in Montreal.

There's going to be weeks like this for New Girls in Town Pageant where it's not on top and we knew that and we're okay with it, there will be weeks where the SNF game won't be that big of a draw so the ratings will go back-and-forth all season long. The main night for NGIT is on Fridays right now. Teen Athlete should be okay it probably won't be as big as these other competitions plus going against football wasn't good.

ROD had a really good night, in my opinion, their whole lineup was rock solid this is a tough night and Pretty Thieves really held up the strongest.

Strawberry Shields and Kay Shields are going to be blockbuster their NITRO careers are off to a great start.

Audreyana Williams and Lisa Grantham are really turning into something special. Kate Li Williams is looking good also and I think Natasha Herbst was responsible for covering Kay Shields so I think she'll rebound next week.

Right now Jesse Anzalone and Marissa Robertson are definitely going to stay up here and not go back to the draft competitions they're really performing well this first week of the season.

Hey man I give SBC a lot of credit for buying the rights to the WFL and Xtina Grimmie Hour this is why I had SBC finishing in front of RTN when the season began because RTN didn't have a talent competition it was all scripted shows and the first five nights have told us that's not going to cut it in NITRO. ROD had a whole scripted block and finished in 3rd place so you gotta have some variety in there somewhere at least half the week. RTN would've never had a single win this week had they still been in NITRO but SBC would've had two of them. Things that make you go hmmmm but RTN/James Scoop was trying to act like I didn't know what the hell I was talking about.

Seattle Mysteries did pretty well behind SNF that was a nice shocker.

For ICE they'll be alright with the New Girls in Town Pageant I expected the football game to beat them but they gotta keep an eye on Teen Athlete though.

ROD had a nice night though they were very competitive they just went against two monsters but Lucy Hale is doing very well with the network this season. If this lineup aired on a different night it would've either finished in 1st or 2nd place easily.

As for the WFL, I think there's a ton of stars that competed on Sunday night and the ratings were up there that's the thing about this league the WFL having NITRO actors as its players really help the league secure huge numbers.

The Shields sisters are special and I think Audreyana Williams will be a bright shining star as well. Eva Adams and Jesse Anzalone are the two I'll be keeping a close eye on right now. Marissa Robertson as well too!

The NITRO audience is higher this season but the networks have gotten better because of the rookies that have become huge draws in NITRO.

I think putting Baywatch back on my network turned out to be a really great decision and Pretty Thieves is turning out really well for us. This will be a tough night all season long.

Kay Shields is really dangerous right now!

Yeah the NGIT Pageant will be okay our main night is Fridays this fall then Sundays will get lighter as far as competition goes and it can dominate the 2nd half of the season on Sundays.

Yeah I've been impressed with Strawberry and Kay so far they've had as good of a first week as I could ask for and Kay Shields is real dangerous like ROD said I was shocked she cooked up Natasha Herbst as she did that means even the best corners can't cover her I think her best test will be Jesalyn Moe who I think will be the best corner in the league and all of NITRO and she will face Jesalyn later in the season for a huge primetime showdown in November so ROD you're going to get that Seattle-Broad Street game on MNF.

Audreyana Williams is a dangerous weapon out of the backfield that's why I had to move Jasmine Sanders.

I think Eva Adams is going to go down as my biggest shocker of the season on this roster as I didn't expect her to be ready this early in her career and Jesse Anzalone could be in my starting lineup for Team ICE this week moving Neta Alchemist to safety since we gotta fill that hole after Dasha's disappointing start to the season and I want Nancy Nery at the Nickelback position so that her speed can take care of the speed receivers in the slot.

Also, I think Penny Perchik is going to have a huge rebound week she had a nice performance in the WFL this week.

Oh yeah, New Girls in Town Pageant will be okay this season and based on the matchup this Sunday on SNF I think it may beat SNF next week.

I was also surprised Natasha Herbst got burned like that but I do believe Kay is just that damn good I can't imagine how practices are with her and the Team ICE secondary. I think that Jewel versus Bullies game will be really good in November.

Audreyana Williams is the full package and if Kate Li Williams can run with her that's a great backfield.

I think Eva Adams development is going to be very interesting to watch and she plays safety too so maybe she can crack the Team ICE lineup. Neta Alchemist's decision on what position she plays will be interesting but Jesse Anzalone has to start either way it goes. Penny Perchik will be interesting this week on Team ICE as I always had high hopes for her.
