THE WFL IS BACK AND IT'S OPENING DAY AROUND THE WORLD

One of the most glorious days of the year on the NITRO calendar is the opening day of WFL Football and after a 5-year hiatus the league returned and people were happy about it by way of the ratings which opened at historic level setting a new daytime ratings record of 143.65 million viewers during the league's Game of the Week matchup between the Paris Bulldogs and the Detroit Fury who opened their season as defending world champions and received their rings and raised the banner as the league's second champions.

The new season opened with a bang as the league's first Sunday afternoon started with a shootout for the ages as Malena Morgan and her Tampa Sol which finished the 2013 season as an improved team after Malena made her first start traveled to South Philadelphia to take on the brand new Molly Ephraim and Alexandra Krosney owned Broad Street Bullies franchise who had hometown stars like Kyla Ray and the Terrible Twins Jesalyn and Vanessa Moe. None of them disappointed as Vanessa kept up with Malena in this shootout that ended in an overtime thriller where Malena threw the game winning touchdown to Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson who had a huge day catching 4 touchdowns herself giving Broad Street a loss in their first ever game as a franchise. Vanessa Moe was equally sharp throwing 5 touchdown passes with three of them going to Hilarie Vitelli. Vanessa sister on defense caught two interceptions and took them both back for touchdowns as she was a beast on defense just like she was for Team ICE back on Wednesday night. Angie Bonanni was pretty good at safety too so although this defense surrendered 63 points their defense is going to be great this season but Malena Morgan is really hard to stop. Carmela Rose and Tammy Oldehoff had strong games on defense as Carmela Rose caught an interception off of Vanessa Moe.

This game was so hot it opened up with 133.32 million viewers and got social media buzzing especially about Paris Jackson's outstanding performance as Paris has had an amazing week so far in NITRO. A lot of people are calling this the Molly in South Philly game.

Over on ROD in the same early games window Madison Beer was featured leading her New York Hitmen at home against the Bostonian Alfonso sisters at Yankee Stadium. Dinah Jeter played quarterback on the same grounds as her uncle Derek Jeter and she had a fine debut but the story was New York's ferocious defense that Boston just couldn't keep up in this one as they lost this game 38-24 on the road but with the Alfonso sisters in here this new Boston team can be decent and make a play for the playoffs. This game drew in 70 million viewers over on ROD which was really amazing against that Molly in South Philly matchup over on ICE.

Elsewhere of note in the early games Farah Holt picked up a win for the British Invasion against the Amsterdam Heinekens at home and Megan May Williams had the most tackles of the day finishing the day with 22 tackles for her team. The new Jacksonville Stripes looks like they could have a pretty good team this year as rookie quarterback Koy Jung and running back Jasmine Sanders led their team to a 30-19 victory at home over the Nashville Ladies. Russia who has a lot of talent like Tonya Krosney opened up their season at home with a comfortable 34-17 win over the Berlin Thunder who has a team of talent themselves like the Van Der Beek sisters. Rookie Head Coach Sasha Luss led Russia to victory as Tonya Krosney got 2 interceptions and a return for a touchdown to help her team win. Tonya Krosney is going to be a really great football player in this league. Finally Paige Reifler led the Miami Sharks to a dominating 38-16 win at home against the Washington Americans as ROD Knockout Hailey Outland had 15 tackles in this game, 2 sacks, and an interception for her team.

In the middle games of the WFL tripleheader we had an intriguing matchup between the Milwaukee Millers and Chicago Enforcers and this game lost a lot of steam after RTN shutdown operations the day before as Milwaukee feasted on that decision dominating their new rivals to the south at Wrigley Field. Bridget Satterlee returned home to a chorus of boos from the crowd but that didn't phase her as she dominated this game with her linebacking teammate Natalie Ceretti as Bridget and Nat were a terror to the Enforcers the whole afternoon. Bridget Satterlee picked up 16 tackles and got a pick and scored a touchdown off of it and Natalie Ceretti did the exact same thing except she had 10 tackles and a pick in this game. Both of them looked scary in this game while Nancy Nery in the secondary completely shutdown the passing game. Their quarterback Jelena Mariucci whose also from Chicago had a nice game for Milwaukee passing for 295 yards while Nicole Meyer grabbed 126 yards on the ground and a touchdown. This Milwaukee team will look to challenge the Detroit Fury in the division this season for the division title. Meanwhile Gia Jolie didn't get any help from Allison Shields, Santana Shields, Tracy Kimmell, or Mia Lasanti at all today as Chicago was held to just 10 points by this young Milwaukee defense.

The Millers first game in Chicago scored 131.7 million viewers over on ROD so there was a lot of interest in this game because of Bridget Satterlee, Natalie Ceretti, Nancy Nery, and Gia Jolie's debuts.

The other two afternoon games were interesting starting down in Houston where Arizona is looking like a surprise team out of the gate this season getting maybe the most surprising victory of the entire day over the Houston Oilers on the road by a score of 28-24 as Sarah Simmons got a game winning interception for her team as she has been rumored to be traded to ICE in the big deal that's gonna go down officially later this week. Sarah Simmons got 11 tackles in the game today and 3 sacks from the linebacking position showing her athletic skills meanwhile SBC's Amber Anderson was a blocking machine on that Houston offensive line. Look for teams to give her a call later in the season to come and block for them. In other action up north we had the BC Grizzlies who are now owned by Jessica Lowndes and the energy support by her quarterback Deborah Jo Wood showed in this game as BC defeated the brand new Saskatchewan Loggers 37-31 in an overtime thriller on the road in a hostile environment. Dasha Dereviankina looked real bad in this game as she is struggling in her young NITRO career but her teammates Alina Kirchiu, Yara Khmidan, and Gia Radionova looked pretty good out there today. This was Paloma Kwiatkowski's first game as the Grizzlies new Head Coach.

JEZEBEL JAMES STARTS HER REVENGE TOUR ON PARIS WITH A BANG

In the late afternoon games starting with the game of the week between the Paris Bulldogs which featured mainly SBC stars as many people are calling the Bulldogs Team SBC just like the Toronto Icegals for ICE and the Los Angeles Stars for ROD against the defending world champion Detroit Fury led by last season's Hooters Bowl MVP Kya Summers. Kya Summers is still as dangerous as she was the year before on defense but the difference this season is that they have a franchise quarterback in Janet Moore. Janet Moore just learned the day before that her studio was shutting down and she becomes an ICE Starlet officially starting on Monday morning. Janet Moore had a huge day in her debut leading her championship team as a rookie to a close victory over Paris 31-24. The difference in this game ended up being Jezebel James who was a terror to that Paris defense starting many fights against them and intimidating them the entire game giving her old studio a preview at what's going to happen to them when they see her for the first time at Battle of the Network Stars this season. Jezebel James was all over the field with 12 tackles and she got the game winning interception for her team with 1 minute left to go in the ball game and the very young Patrick Westbrook got the next interception to officially end the game for Detroit. Paris is going to be a great team themselves as they were tested today on the road in a tough environment at Detroit's Ford Field where the Fury were undefeated last season. Paris quarterback Jenna McConnell looked pretty good at quarterback throwing for over 300 yards in this game as the story of this game for Paris was the strong running of Topanga Jamora who is turning herself into one of SBC's biggest stars so far as she had 150 yards on the ground. The problem for Paris in this game was they kept getting stopped in the redzone which is something they will need to improve on when they return home next week against Tonya Krosney and Russia.

This was obviously the biggest game of the afternoon and the record was set over on ICE as we reported earlier with 144 million viewers scoring a daytime record for this game bleeding into primetime's first hour of the night.

In the other two games we had Los Angeles facing off against the new Mexico Aztecs at home at the Coliseum as the Los Angeles franchise was the old California Quakes from the season before but the team name got transferred up to the Bay Area franchise but no matter what the new name of the franchise is this is one of the most talented teams of the league as they had huge competition at the quarterback position as Hailee Steinfeld ended up winning the job and she proved why she should've as she threw for 477 yards on that Mexico defense in a lopsided 56-3 Mollywhopping of the Aztec Warriors. Lucy Hale who is the new owner of the team made the decision to draft Rachel Mortenson to be the head coach of this football team and have Sean Thompson coordinate the defense. There was an equal amount of distribution in this game as nobody really stood out individually outside of Hailee Steinfeld but Barbara Palvin played really good on the o-line and defensively brand new ROD Knockout Kyra Santoro had 4 sacks in this ballgame and a fumble recovery. Los Angeles does look very scary right now and their sister team down the road in Anaheim faced Colorado in a low-scoring affair in Orange County as the Oranges in their first ever game knocked off Paige Van Buren's old team the Boulders 17-13. Anaheim's Heather Clauson returned home with a great receiving performance grabbing 13 catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Anaheim has a lot of Knockouts on their team just like Los Angeles.

ROD featured the Los Angeles Stars game to 73.26 million viewers despite the blowout.

ICE won the Sunday morning battle easily but ROD had a solid morning. SBC was not even competitive at all but luckily next week they'll get a share of these afternoon WFL games taking over for RTN's Sunday afternoon contract.

Tonight we'll continue with more WFL Football this time in the primetime variety as Sunday Night Football kicks off its run over on SBC with the Toronto Icegals and its share of ICE Starlets like Lisa Grantham, Audreyana Williams, and Jesse Anzalone traveling to Norwood to take on a talented new young franchise in their first ever game at home as a franchise then in late night switch over to ROD as they'll be showing us the WFL debut of Strawberry Shields and Kay Shields together as a tandem for the Seattle Jewel franchise up in San Francisco tonight to take on the new Bay Area Quakes then down under on a Monday afternoon live in Sydney the Kangaroos begin their franchise under a new name like Los Angeles hosting the very talented Nevada Dice with the debut of Kate Li Williams in the backfield and Aisha Williams protecting her on that offensive line. Should be interesting tonight and on non-WFL programming we'll have the season premieres of Eight Is Enough, Baywatch, and Pretty Thieves over on ROD while ICE will open up night two of their NGIT Pageant auditions live from Toronto while SBC kicks off a new season of Seattle Mysteries behind SNF.

Man, they had a supreme air attack game for the ages taking place in Philly as I really think both Paris Jackson and Vanessa Moe are going to have bright futures here in NITRO.

Megan May Williams is a huge surprise she has really stepped her game up and she's gonna get real noticed not being on a stacked team there in London with the British Invasion.

Boston is going to be a good team and I'm interested to see how New York turns out they got Gillian Shields too don't they?

Tonya Krosney will be one of SBC's top stars and another player to keep an eye on is Toni Butler who played with Philly.

I think Natalie Ceretti will be just as huge Bridget Satterlee and Jelena Mariucci is a pretty nice surprise.

Arizona might have a playoff team out there and BC is going to be good with Deborah Jo Wood.

Los Angeles looks real sharp this year and Detroit will be a power again and if Janet Moore gets a big-time receiver they could win the championship again.
