NEW GIRLS IN TOWN PAGEANT BECOMES NITRO'S ALL-TIME MOST WATCHED SHOW
They're going back-and-forth at the top to start the season as ICE recaptures first place from ROD as they have 9 points to ROD's 8 points getting their second top spot ratings victory of the young season that's only three nights old.
As we saw in daytime when it's a Kelly Green Night for ICE there's no real competitors in sight. That was the case again as ICE broke two different ratings records on Friday night.
The first one happened with their comedies as Youth of Life became NITRO's all-time most watched comedy when it notched in 123.58 million viewers and New Girls in Town Pageant reached 175.07 million viewers making it the most watched program of all-time in NITRO history surpassing the 162 million viewers who tuned in for the draft back in August 2016.
History was made twice in one night but the first edition of Kelly Green Fridays started with Jaime which was rejuvenated this season with an improved cast as Jenny Sense has now taken over the role of the character Jaime and 90.2 million viewers tuned into see her debut and that was Jaime's highest rating ever. Behind Jaime was the highly anticipated premiere of Molly in South Philly which this season has a stacked cast behind Molly Ephraim, Alexandra Krosney, and Kyla Ray who carried the show last season they will now have all of the Philly kids and Italians drafted from ICE this season with the Terrible Twins Jesalyn and Vanessa Moe joining the cast along with Juliane Landers, Angie Bonanni, Samantha Hoopes, Antonella Marzilli, Jelena Mariucci, Hilarie Vitelli, Kirin Scarpello, and Natalie Ceretti.
STACKED NAMES ON MOLLY IN SOUTH PHILLY TONIGHT SPARKS SOCIAL MEDIA HYPE
Molly in South Philly got the ratings over 100 million viewers for ICE and this is the real glue to making this lineup really work for them as they had a real funny first episode really picking on all of the other studios and really shitting on SBC in this episode especially Kaitlyn Dever and Molly McCook. It was a complete roast fest as it seemed like social media was really impressed with Jesalyn Moe in this episode as she was roasting the shit out of Janie Aniston getting her job stolen by Topanga. Also in this episode we had ICE executive Danielle Fishel make a special guest star appearance on the episode making fun of Topanga Jamora. Pyper America also made a surprising guest appearance in the ultimate Friends skit with Matt LeBlanc reprising his role as Joey making fun of the new Friends reboot revival Rachel that hasn't even premiered on SBC yet but they made fun of that real bad with Pyper playing her aunt Jennifer Aniston's character Rachel Karen Green and making her look so stupid. Pyper also made fun of her own sister Janie Aniston by having Rachel fight Topanga and reveal some personal things about Janie that nobody is supposed to know about. Pyper America had talked to the Moe twins and Bridget Satterlee about tonight's show and potentially making a surprise appearance on there and she did.
Another skit featured Leon Thomas III making fun of the cancellation of Victorious with Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande helping getting the show cancelled as Vanessa Moe played Victoria and Angie Bonanni played Ariana and they made Ariana look horrible in this as Ariana's ex-boyfriend Big Sean made an appearance making fun of the death of Mac Miller who died in Los Angeles earlier in the day making fun of his overdose. It was in bad taste but funny to the viewers at Paramount Hall tonight.
We had another quick skit of Kyla Ray making fun of Chase Carter trying to play basketball and making her look bad dribbling the basketball and Allen Iverson made a guest star appearance and he was used to make Chase look bad on defense against him.
Things went over to Lucy Hale and Ashley Greene as they got to stinging those two bosses as they made fun of Ashley Greene and how Lucy Hale is doing a much better job than her at ROD as they used Lucy Hale to taunt her and Alexandra Krosney played Lucy while Antonella Marzilli played Ashley Greene using her southern accent.
The RTN roasting continued and this time Bridget Satterlee made a guest appearance to make fun of Gia Jolie's early season struggles in the ratings and fight with Nia Seymour as Natalie Ceretti played Nia Seymour and they used Jelena Marriucci as Gia Jolie and she got the beating of a lifetime from Bridget Satterlee. Natalie Ceretti became Bridget's best friend after Gia abandoned her back in 2014 so this was a fitting skit for the two of them.
Kirin Scarpello played Sarah King the Fired Drunk as they was making fun of her being an alcoholic and losing her job this week and her getting knocked out by Madison Beer. Madison Beer?
OH SHIT THAT WAS THE REAL MADISON BEER WHO WAS IN TORONTO AND SHOWED UP FOR THIS SKIT!!!
WOAH!! WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?!
THIS IS WHY LIVE TELEVISION IS SO FUN YOU NEVER KNOW WHOSE GONNA SHOW THE FUCK UP!
Madison Beer grabbed the mic and had this to say interrupting the end of the show forcing Young Girls to start 4 minutes late.
Madison Beer: HEY! HEY! Give me a fucking mic! Give me a fucking mic NOW! DAMN'T!
Madison Beer: You people in Toronto know who I am but you don't know why I'm here?
Madison Beer: Where Is AnnaLynne McCord? Where Is Frankie Beckham? Where Is Paige Van Buren?
Madison Beer: So this is where the big boys play huh? In front of sold out arenas and shit. I wanna play too and I don't mean that stupid ass doll Chucky from Child's Play or anything like that.
Madison Beer: Hey Frankie! I see how you guys are treating Jezebel James like royalty I want a piece of that shit. Get my ass over to ICE right now!
Madison Beer: For those of you watching I want you to know I do whatever I want, whenever I want!
Madison Beer: Tempsett Bledsoe I'm gonna kill you bitch!
Madison Beer: See you in New York on Sunday! BYE! BYE!
The show went off just like that as the cliffhanger.
Social media couldn't believe what they just witnessed and many started speculating about Madison Beer's situation was she still with SBC or was she with ICE or what? Madison just disappeared again after that but the upper SBC brass can't be happy with what Madison Beer just did.
Moving on here in the ratings we have Young Girls which might be one of your biggest turn around primetime shows of the season as the cast is completely stacked now, ICE is currently experimenting with who to permanently cast in the cast so they're using a lot of guest stars this fall to fill up the cast but Amber Montana is still one the stars from last season and she's joined by Rowan Blanchard and Lisa Grantham this season. Jesse Anzalone is expected to join them as well soon after ICE makes a final decision on her draft status in October but Lisa Grantham is expected to carry the show as she'll be on Molly in South Philly next week to give the show some more exposure but Young Girls actually grew out of Molly in South Philly despite running four minutes late because of Madison Beer's unexpected little run in so Young Girls is looking great right now and a show that's similar to it is Youth of Life which is also going through some changes in the cast and running through guest stars but one of the main stars from last season is Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson who is one of the main draws the show has after Tracy Kimmell who was always attached to this show left for RTN this season. Youth of Life got some huge guest stars Strawberry and Kay Shields who are both going to be in the show through October 5th in a storyline so the show reached 123 million viewers as we said earlier is a new comedy record in NITRO. We'll see what the cast is looking like later in the season but so far so good.
Next up was New Girls in Town Pageant's huge season premiere as it became NITRO's most watched show officially tonight getting 175 million viewers as the show seems to be powerful this season as it will be all year as Kaia Gerber had her audition tonight and she's a favorite to become the biggest NITRO star of all-time depending on what studio she's drafted to this summer as she will be facing some top tier talent all season so this should be fun for the pageant just like last season which is what made this show popular in the first place seeing NITRO's future stars represent everyone's cities or countries compete against each other in various competitions every week.
Kaia Gerber auditioned tonight and last night it was Kristina Pimenova for the Junior Beauty Pageant and the night before that it was Maddie Ziegler on The Carpenters Hour so some huge names are in the spotlight during premiere week. NGIT Pageant airs again on Sunday night after the WFL as well should be interesting to see what the ratings are there.
Who Wanted Nichole Dead? couldn't ask for a better lead-in and although it bled quite a bit it still settled well over 100 million viewers getting plenty of exposure last night grabbing just under 130 million viewers while staying over 70% retention as well with 72% retention and for scripted shows behind huge competitions like this it's pretty hard to get more than 70% retention so kudos to Nichole here for holding most of that audience for the season premiere.
Paige Van Buren will definitely be drinking a glass of wine tonight after this record setting night.
Moving onto ROD who finished the best behind the Kelly Green lineup on ICE where Lucy Hale finally premiered her new variety show leading off it got a nice number at 64 million viewers probably surprisingly higher than we could've expected. This is good news for the show on Wednesdays and maybe if Koy Jung can hold this number next Friday they'll be good here. Miss ROD continues to do its thing getting the audience over 80 million viewers which was a good enough cushion for two of the most anticipated primetime soaps of all-time in NITRO in Steffy Forrester and Quinn Fuller which are both Sheila Carter spin-offs and we know Sheila Carter was the highest rated non-ICE drama last season so no surprise they stood up to the pageant this well.
Steffy Forrester grew out of Miss ROD by getting 85.6 million viewers at 10pm helping Quinn Fuller grab 91 million viewers which would be the highest all-time rating for a ROD scripted show ever surpassing Sheila Carter from last season. Normally everything gets crushed against the NGIT Pageant but both soaps stood tall in their premieres so this is really good news for ROD who might've taken a gamble keeping them here without help from Sheila Carter but this is where ROD is doing some work this season under Lucy Hale and becoming a stronger network in front of our eyes this season. They are figuring out how to counterprogram ICE a little better and they found the perfect soaps to do that as well.
Australian Nights seems to be struggling a little bit as it slipped but still ended up with a strong number and decent retention and gave Country Made a good enough lead-in to get up to 80.35 million viewers for its season premiere. Lucy Hale looking really good after tonight this might be the most impressive 2nd place performance we've ever seen in NITRO history not one program drew below 60 million viewers on Friday night for them.
SBC finally woke up for the first time this season to capture their first point of the season and nabbing a 3rd place victory over RTN thanks to the addition of Team SBC which faces tough competition but still managed to get over 60 million viewers. Some people might be wondering why Team SBC didn't do as well as Team ICE but it's pretty simple the Team ICE games count and the team is more popular but having a weekly TV show can help with the team's popularity as well.
The diss shows did a little better than expected as I'm sure Molly Ephraim will be all over Kaitlyn Dever for getting blown out by her but for SBC standards this was okay and Team SBC probably lifted them especially considering how RTN performed against them SBC will take this number for now. The rest of the night didn't perform as good as the new variety shows fell flat on their face and Jaws got lost in late night hours going against the NGIT Pageant and Australian Nights.
The reason why the late night hours didn't hurt SBC was because of how horrible RTN did against them. Fridays look like a major problem for them already right out of the gate as Black Flag bombed on them and a lot of people predicted this to happen as the show is really off-brand from what NITRO viewers are used to but you still gotta give RTN credit for trying something different as different is good sometimes in NITRO and taking risks as hell the biggest risk in NITRO history was the creation of the New Girls in Town Pageant last season. ICE Phederation Co-Owner AnnaLynne McCord created that show to give some of the draft talent a competition to compete it to get recognized in to get involved in a better situation for the start of their NITRO careers but the idea paid off bigger than anyone could ever imagine and it was a huge risk ICE took because nobody had ever done a weekly beauty pageant series before and now it's exploded to the most popular entity on NITRO Television right now. While Black Flag bombed terribly and set the rest of the lineup back it was still a good gamble worth taking at the end of the day.
Sarah didn't have a chance with a lead-in like that as it grew but still low in its own right and this was another show that was expected to do way better. Twisted Tales and Fear the Night suffered because of the lower lead-ins but luckily RTN has a bunch of reserves to replace some of these shows in the future. In late night things started to get better with sexy women wrestling specials that got the ratings way back up and defeated SBC easily in those hours.
RTN should be able to rebound with a live sex special to lead-off the night that should be interesting to see how that does no doubt about it.
Overall this night clearly belonged to ICE from start to finish but the surprise here was how well ROD did against that Kelly Green Friday lineup as it's going to be interesting to see how ROD continues their start to the season.
Tomorrow as we mentioned before we got that live sex special on RTN followed up by the huge massive premiere of Vegas Showgirls which will finally be shown on NITRO Television after going dark in 2014 after the NITRO suspended season. We also have a huge night for SBC they could finish in 1st or 2nd place with The Xtina Grimmie Hour premiering and the first two WFL games of the new season premiering. ROD has the long awaited season premiere of Sheila Carter in late night.
