LUCY HALE AND ROD ARE IN 1ST PLACE THROUGH FIRST TWO NIGHTS OF NEW SEASON
Don't look now but ROD is actually in first place right now for the season gaining 6 points off of their first top place finish of the season here on Thursday night. They're ahead of ICE by one point and RTN is sitting cool in 3rd place over SBC right now.
Lucy Hale has very quietly sneaked up on everybody with the best schedule they've ever had and they're doing pretty well in daytime as well and a lot of ROD's success lately has come from the fact that they've strategically spent a lot of money once Lucy Hale was hired as CEO to get programs like Junior Beauty Pageant and Pretty Thieves which had its network premiere last night and both shows are getting blockbuster ratings for their premieres right now.
Junior Beauty Pageant which held its first set of auditions in Toronto last night featuring little Russian star Kristina Pimenova who will eligible for the 2020 draft and will participate in the New Girls in Town Pageant next season is a prime top 10 pick in that draft so the world got a chance to see her audition just like they saw Maddie Ziegler's last night of The Carpenters Hour and that's really the huge draw for these types of talent competition although a lot of them are airing these days that factor keeps people watching and the fatigue factor to a minimum. Junior Beauty Pageant scored over a 100 million viewers very easily last night and can dominate its timeslot for the rest of the season very easily for ROD.
Junior Beauty Pageant is a real good aide for ROD's created NITRO draft competition Miss Roderick Pageant which started its second season last night and Miss ROD is a legit competition that has produced some of our newest NITRO stars who are having some success already. Miss Roderick Pageant usually does an elimination tournament instead of auditions before they start their live competitions in November so this is very unique as they started in Los Angeles last night.
Miss ROD started off at 113 million viewers a little bit above the Junior Beauty Pageant but this is a perfect lineup and duo right now that are going to be hard to take down on Thursdays as ROD was very smart to put them together and this is where you can tell Lucy Hale learned from her bosses over at ICE and is bringing some of that to them right now.
Good shit as I'm sure ROD fans are like WE'RE LOVING LUCY ON CHANNEL 5 right?! YES!
In our first real close race of the season in primetime we had RTN edging off ICE for 2nd place and oddly enough just earlier in daytime ICE was edged out by ROD for 1st place and the margins were real small so ICE on their off nights are really competitive and hanging in there. At the start of the season everybody knew RTN's best night would probably be Thursdays and it played out like that but their results were mixed surprisingly.
RTN pushed out four dramas all on the crime or thriller side with lots of potential and they're all sort of new except Fugitive at 17 which was making its network premiere on the network not its series premiere because the show is kicking off its second season as a series.
Survivors started off first and this was one of the more high-profiled dramas of the season and it lived up to the hype drawing in 67 million viewers which is right where most ratings predictors had it at anything beyond 70 million would've been surprising and blockbuster status. Survivors could prove to be a solid lead-off option depending on how it settles in over the next few weeks. Starlets Hell Week over on ICE may have effected Survivors some in this slot.
MARIE AVGEROPOULOS CRIMINAL CYBER SKILLS MOVE TO RTN
After last night's surprising huge ratings performance from Pretty Thieves we all had a feeling that Fugitive at 17 in a slightly weaker slot could hit over 80 million viewers at least and it did hiking up close to 90 million viewers actually beating the Fugitive at 17 premiere which had to go against Team ICE and RTN's football charity event special. Money well spent on both of these Janit O'Day shows for ROD and RTN so far just like it was for SBC when they first got Heather back in 2013 so this makes it official that all of the NITRO networks have succeeded with their Janit O'Day dramas.
Now this is where competition affects a lot of shows especially this season as Janit O'Day took to the air for its season premiere over on ICE drawing 78 million viewers for its fifth season premiere and both of these shows draw a similar audience as most of the Cam Girls viewers are Janit O'Day viewers coming from Fugitive at 17 so this is where Cam Girls got caught up and dropped 16 million viewers behind Fugitive at 17 but the retention rate was still solid at 82% so the drop had more to do with the competition in the timeslot than the show itself. So with Sex Trafficker looking pretty weak at 10pm expect in the future some timeslot changes here to make sure Cam Girls gets the best draw possible.
Overall this was a solid night from RTN to get into 2nd place they put together a tough lineup here.
For ICE they came off of a record-breaking night last night and was bound to cool off but even on a rested night here they still did enough damage to the competition.
ICE ran their annual documentation of training camp hell for the newer ICE Starlets which in this case was the whole 2016 draft class where their rookies go through hell with the vets in order to learn respect and their place in the studio as a newcomer. This is always a popular option with viewers every season so no surprise here it drew a pretty strong audience over 70 million viewers leading into the O.G. Janit O'Day. What's amazing is that Janit O'Day's spin-offs are rating higher than the original which is weird.
Obviously the night for ICE was all about the premiere of Cherry Street Boarding School which did pretty well behind Janit O'Day staying right over 70 million viewers at 11pm and it beat out Sex Trafficker on RTN. The late night soap held 89% of Janit O'Day's lead-in so not too bad that means only about 11% of the viewers did not keep their TVs on channel 7 in that last hour. Cherry Street has got some potential here we'll see how things turn out for this soap as it airs again with no help this Saturday night at 8pm to lead-off that lineup.
SBC doesn't seem to have really started its season just yet as they haven't given the viewers what they want they've been burning off several dead programs or previewing stuff but they haven't gained a point coming in dead last.
There is some concern with Terri Shields and the way Allison's twin's career is going right now as it seems like the Shields sisters this year are experiencing a drop in their star power except for the ICE sisters who are surging into becoming top 10 stars in NITRO and Allison & Santana are having a nice start with RTN. Terri had the highest ratings of the night for SBC but she's struggling as she just got fired from her job as Daytime President so things have not gone well for her ever since she got stabbed by her sister Gabby live on TV back in 2013.
Unlike ICE or ROD's new bosses nobody at SBC is embracing Selena Gomez anymore as her variety shows look stale and its really embarrassing when a repeat of Seattle Mysteries does better.
SBC has Team SBC tomorrow so we'll see how they do with a more competitive lineup.
Tomorrow is Friday so NITRO's #1 show is back with New Girls in Town Pageant and we'll see how the field does against it. Also ROD has their live Friday night Sheila Carter spin-off soaps debuting as well and SBC has Team SBC airing so it should be a fun competitive night for sure.
