JESSICA WHO? PAIGE VAN BUREN HAS A SPECTACULAR DEBUT FOR ICE
Brand new ICE Phederation CEO Paige Van Buren makes her highly anticipated debut and it was one spectacular debut for books as Paige Van Buren had herself a pretty good damn first day on the job in both daytime and primetime. Everything is clicking right out of the gate on the television side and the athletic side as Team ICE went through the afternoon just dominating one of the best schools in the city of Toronto in the famous Degrassi High that notable NITRO actors from past and present like Shenae Grimes, Drake, Devon Bostick, Stephen Amell, Shay Mitchell, Stacey Farber, Cassie Steele, Charlotte Arnold, Kate King, Sarah King, Chelcie May, Maya Stepper, and Nina Dobrev all grew up at Degrassi.
Paige young team all made their debuts today and they were out there to send a clear message on the athletic stages and in the ratings all day today that they will be a tough battle.
Team ICE set a new regular season daytime record getting 81 million viewers and tonight got the regular season primetime record at 153.3 million viewers just 9 million views short of the all-time record set by the NITRO Rookie Draft back in August 2016 the last time NITRO viewers saw any ratings of any kind. Team ICE showcased their most popular sport American football in primetime as viewers got a chance to see the athletes in Battle of the Network Stars main sporting event. Nobody knows what the regular ratings will be for Team ICE but this is a great start and a great move by Paige Van Buren to bring that kind of show to NITRO on a weekly basis and making that deal with the school district to get her team ready for the upcoming BOTNS meetings this season. What made this rating more impressive is that the hour featured football competition on RTN and Pretty Thieves on ROD.
To cap the night for ICE was the always huge season premiere of The Carpenters Hour as NITRO viewers just got through watching some of those alumni like Jesalyn Moe on Team ICE from that last televised season of NITRO's music draft competition. The Carpenters Hour showcased their talent for auditions with the main audition being Maddie Ziegler who will compete on the show as a dancer this season. The Carpenters Hour reached a new series-high in viewership getting 145 million viewers with really great retention at 94% so The Hour never bled below 140 million viewers even for the second hour at 11pm where Maddie Ziegler took to the stage for her signature audition at Paramount Hall tonight. The Hour will have some big auditions like Skylar Stecker, Lua Dipa, Kirk Jay, and Chevel Shepherd just to name a few auditioning this season. The Hour returns on Monday nights this season starting on Monday September 17th according to ICE sources.
Overall great historic night for ICE as these all-time highs for right now for network average as 144.13 million viewers is the bar to reach right now.
I LOVE LUCY HALE ON CHANNEL 5 OPENING NIGHT
Below ICE was Lucy Hale who had our other signature debut tonight at CEO as Lucy Hale has spent most of her season working for the Pheds up in Toronto and she may have improved ROD drastically season-to-season right now as she had to really clean out a lot of the damage that Ashley Greene who was just fired by RTN this morning left behind.
Lucy Hale got ROD into 2nd place in daytime and looked the best against ICE's strong opening day slate and did the same thing in primetime as Pretty Thieves made its ROD debut getting a primed spot for the two-hour season premiere. This is a prized possession for ROD right now and Pretty Thieves has survived the toughest competition we've ever seen in Team ICE last night getting a spectacular 84 million viewers out of it which ended up being the second best non-ICE performance of the night only trailing a Team ROD special that followed.
Pretty Thieves getting that type of a number against a tough opponent like Team ICE tells you how strong Pretty Thieves really is and these Janit O'Day shows period. This is on the higher end for any Janit O'Day show as they usually rate anywhere between 55-80 million viewers on average mainly between 60-75 million viewers last season so this was almost a record for them as Heather and Janit O'Day had higher numbers last season. This is definitely the highest rating for Pretty Thieves to date. This is what we like to call money well spent and even in the second hour they still managed to get a little over 80 million viewers for the second hour of its premiere event.
Team ROD got a chance to showcase their WFL players in a special primetime scrimmage and this scrimmage kept ROD real competitive sealing up second place as this special beat out RTN's special grabbing 87 million viewers.
Right now Lucy Hale is looking really good so far for ROD and we expect ROD to have a much stronger day in both daytime and primetime tomorrow.
RTN came in third place and I personally consider this a standout performance considering what RTN had to go up against. They had a lousy daytime outing today but primetime was much more positive for them.
RTN showcased their WFL players and football team and had hard competition against Team ICE and Team ROD doing it in this charity special. Unlike ICE and ROD this was a friendly scrimmage with no serious tackling so this was more like a practice or backyard football game so to get a rating like this is pretty impressive but you know people wanted to see RTN's new toys like Janet Moore and the crew.
If you've noticed in RTN's ratings that the game started off at 65 million viewers and slipped against that second hour of the Team ICE football game then went way back up to over 70 million viewers once ICE switched over to The Carpenters Hour and ROD was the only sports competition in the hour.
RTN is going without a CEO right now as they got an acting CEO right now in Lisa McCune so this is pretty impressive.
SBC had a terrible day all-around not looking good for Selena Gomez right out of the gate but we've got to see a lot more from them as this was only the first night and not their regular lineups. Jeremiah Lynch is picking them to finish in 3rd place so that means SBC can still have a bright season despite their struggles on opening day.
You can make the argument as well for SBC that knew better and didn't want to go all out on opening day knowing how powerful ICE and the other lineups would be so we can give them that.
SBC started the night in the low 40 million viewing range then went way down with the premiere of Inside News and the diss shows ticked back up over the Mendoza line of 35 million viewers but still way too low.
Overall today great starts for ICE and ROD and promising for RTN and safe for SBC.
Tomorrow we'll have a more relaxing day from ICE so this is going to be interesting to see how everybody responds tomorrow and who takes 1st and 2nd place in primetime. 3rd place will be a good battle tomorrow as well.
